Ditto. I vote that all mailing lists be consolidated into one that's Linux/Open Source based in general. The only rule that should be enforced is that we behave like ladies and gentlemen. That means no course language or crude or demeaning jokes. In the market place of ideas, this one thing will sway more people and organizations toward open source than any anarchistic grumblings.
Idealism is indispensable. This is what drives people toward greater goals. Big business has been greatly maligned, unfairly, in my opinion. Yet, the business community is the source of funds to accomplish these goals. Linux only became legitimate after IBM, Compaq, HP, ATI, Adaptec, etc. started openingly offered support. To close a sale for a doctor's office, a law firm, a manufacturing company, a real estate office won't happen the way this list has been handled before. Think about it. Would you buy from someone that just insulted you? If this list had a lot of activity, buying and selling, software development, cutting edge projects, expressing opinions, you can add to the list, someone lurking would think,"These people have something. I want it." And, "You know, maybe Linux isn't a toy after all." I wish Jim D. had written this. It would have sounded a lot better. On 2001.12.08 10:56 Jim Darrough wrote: > I don't drink.
