Instead of one 500 Mb swap partition, you might want to put a swap
partition on each disk.  That way, you get double the paging bandwidth
and half as long a wait for a given page.  Don't worry -- your box
will run fine with only 250 Mb of swap if you take /dev/hdb out of
the system later.
