I had my computer freeze up when switching from a virtual term back to X a
long time ago. I couldn't do anything. My problem was what I believe was
the video card. When I changed the video card the problem went away. I had
my Dorio attached to my computer and was able to log on and kill X. It froze
the keyboard so I couldn't get into a virtual terminal so that's why the
Dorio came in handy. If your on a network try SSH to log into your box. If
you don't have it on a network then there's the switch. Try doing a google
search of XMMS and freezing.
