why lurk? most of us are interested in a BSD as well as linux. i, for one, am
into linux more for the hacking/experimenting than because of some liscence. i
think it's great that there are other OS' out there that don't take liberties
with my computer. personally, i pine for a commercial OS-X that'll work on x86
(yes, i know the kernel works...)

while i think the GPL is one of the best things to happen to software EVER
(kudos, mr. stallman...), i think RMS is being a whiny bitch (hey, that's MY
job!) besides, i find the pronuciation of GNU (gu-new) to be offensive. if a
simple word like "li-nuks" becomes "gu-new-li-nuks", imagine how unneccessarily
complicated linux now seems to the new user compared to the alternatives :
os-ten, B-S-D, u-niks, be-os, plan-nine, win-doze, Q-N-X, palm-os, etc... two
syllable words or short acronyms are much easier to remember (they sound a hell
of a lot kewler, too.). also, it's not like a new user isn't going to find out
about GNU in due time anyway...

RMS : quit your bitching and accept the fact that you've helped linux out
tremendously. we all recognize this and we all figured it out given a little
time. right now it sounds like you're off on an ego-trip. if that's the case,
i'm switching to an OS that has more freedom in it's liscencing (the freedom to
call it whatever the f**k i want to call it...)
