Not at all, Leo -- lots of folks go for this sort of solution; and even in business environments, you'll find bandwidth-sharing and also piggybacking. I'm no BSD guru, but with the 2.4 linux kernels you can set up some easy iptables routing rules to do exactly what you desire!
