I use Mandrake 8.2 on my laptop and Mac OS 9.2.2/X.1.2 on a G-4 tabletop system
I keep Mac OS X updated and have gotten Carbon versions of my major apps...BUT, I stay with Mac OS 9.2.2 for my Desktop publishing, and Linux laptop for all else. Mac OS X feels like a real slick (fancy featured) but clunky version of a Mac Window Manager on Red Hat. In fact, Mac OS X reminds me of the late great Edsel Gnome or Enlightenment window manager with all its ripple effects and translucent windows. God, I'm no Guru or wire-head, but it feels like fluff to me... I know its B&D Unix or whatever, but Linux goes smoother. I think there will be a lot of unsung and un-noticed Mac users with both Mac OS 9 and X on their system for Years! Hal --
