There was an old model of 386's, ( good luck finding one! ) that used to have a detachable screen. It was a laptop but the keyboard and screen could be moved about 3-4 feet apart. I think the screen would act as a touch pad too... Anyway, that model would probably be an easy hardware hack, your standard model would probably be a bit more problematic. E-Bay?
