Actually... Ive been thinking about this since my 486 laptop died (about 3
years ago...) The video chip burned out, and I still have it... been thinking
about what I can do with it (such as make a server, by doing a net boot
install, or use a serial connection (like a dumb terminal...) Since the video
doesnt work, the display is superflious. and its a nice (but smaller) active
matirx display...
Since then I have more broken laptops, and I have a lcd display from a
portable computer (yes, very old, CGA mono, ...) but since its not from a
laptop, rather a portable, it has a power connector (like the kind on floppy
drives).
I also have the pinouts for svga (15pin D-sub connector) (you can find this
on the net easily enough). If there is enough interests, I would be willing
to help, and supply many parts for experimentation... Id like to get myself a
portable display... maybe something with batteries for power, but plugs into
any svga video card...
