Ok,
I was digging around our office today some extra disk space (yes yes I know disks are cheap, but I have no budget) and I managed to find a Sun Ultra 1 Server with a Sun Disk Array (Fiber) attached. All of the hardware works, but we don't have a license for Solaris for it anymore..... Not sure how that happened, but that is what they tell me. So I see this as an opportunity to play.... What OS should I put on it? Linux (if so which version has good support for the UltraSparcs) or some form of [Free/Open/Net]BSD. My only requirements are that it be a something fairly easy to setup (I don't mind learning, but I don't have a bunch of time either), and it must run a good webserver, ftp, telnet, java, rsync, and a Jabber server. Anybody have any suggestions/opinions (boy, now I am asking for it.....)
