I think that would work, in a duct tape and bailing wire sort of way, but I am trying to understand how I am supposed to get this to work.
No, I do not have to pass any information to modprobe on the command line for the ncr53c8xx.
Redhat 7.2 or 7.3. Can't remember at the moment.
