Ok, If I run apt-get dist-upgrade does this change the /etc/apt/sources.list
or do I have to change the sources.list first then run apt-get dist-upgrade.

I ran apt-get update, apt-get upgrade and found that I have a lot of unmet
depency problems and now I'm wondering if ximian did this or what could have
caused the system to so far out of wake. I normally update and upgrade if I
see a security anouncement on linuxtoday. Everything seems to be running ok
just a lot of unmet depencies.

I needs to download 114 megs if I'm doing a dist-upgrade. With dialup this
would take forever. I have a friend locally here who has dsl and can grab
the Debian 3.0 images. If he can't do it I might have one of you burn me a
copy and send it to me. Would it be simpler just to get them burned and do a
apt-cdrom add and use the images instead of downloading them. I think I can
do this instead. But with all the unmet depencies do you think it would be
easier to reinstall. I have a seperate home directory so I wouldn't loose
anything I really need just the configuration files. If I do a reinstall I
can see how a woody install goes. But I could do this on my other machine
Boyle since it is my test machine.

Debian is 7 CD's. Wow.. 14 i f you get the sources. It must have
everything you would ever want plus the kitchen sink.
