Between Red Hat, Mandrake, SUSE, Debian, and all the rest, you'd figure that they could get the hardware detection and GUI interface (X install) to "just work" right out of the box using a universal hardware database.
Isn't the whole point behind open source that if one person figures out how to make it work then we all benefit? Why aren't these guys sharing?
