Just for general information, Knoppix has a hard disk
install script that will install the full Knoppix
(Debian) distribution to your hard disk. I just did
this and had no problems and the Knoppix CD was the
only current distro to set up my sound card correctly.

After booting from the 'Live CD' go to a root console
screen with [Ctrl]+[Alt]+[F1] and enter
'knx-hdinstall' (without quotes) and press [Enter].
Follow the prompts for a fairly easy Debian install.

It comes up in German so you need to set the language
and keyboard to US or your prefered language.

There was a url to instructions but it is now broken.
Attached is the text file of the install instructions
I saved.

I have had problems installing Debian (not so muxh the
installation, but getting audio and video + other
stuff correct). Knoppix found everything including
the SCSI Zip and CD drives and the sound, so it was a
great way to get Everything set properly. Now I can
back track and see what I was doing so wrong when I
just couldn't get it right.

So if the Knoppix Live CD boots your machine without
problems you have an easy install if you want.
