You know, all the suggestions that have been mentioned so far would affect the flow
of SPAM to some degree. None of them would stop it. It looks to me like it's
becoming a question of which "solution" would be the lesser of the evils?
I tend to like using technology to block SPAM because the "enemy" is using
technology to get in my face. Cory mentioned bogofilter.sourceforge.net. Then
there's spamAssassin.org. How many others are there? Shouldn't we be using this
opportunity to put forward these choices that work?
I tend to dislike government regulation ("Mommy! He's looking at me! Make her
stop!") Your homework, should you care to accept it, is to list as many examples as
possible of each time the government stepped in to solve a problem only to become a
worse problem then the one they were supposed to fix.
Using one evil to combat another evil is short sighted. Wasn't there some plants
and animals brought into an area to control another plant and animal only to see
them take off and become a problem themselves?
Viri are another irratant that can be slowed but not stopped with a good email
filter. Isn't that right Seth?
