If I weren't the hardware geek that I am I might actually go past 6 months on something. As it is, I usually change cases, drives, RAM, video cards, sound cards, motherboards, CDRW's or something else every few months in one machine or another. Perhaps when me has a house and a couple Terabytes of storage on a well cooled quiet machine for a fileserver then I'll leave it be to run and run and run.
