I have used a HP laserjet 1100 for several years configured as a laserjet 4
with no problems under linux. I have over the last month had troubles with
multiple sheet feeding at one time. I have ahd only a few problems running
it under windows.

Subject: [Eug-lug]printer advice

> My wife and I are beginning to think that our laserjet printer is about to
die. We got it free and only really have need for b/w printouts. We have a
Canon BJC-600 which does o.k. for the occassional color printout, although
the ink goes quickly. We inherited this HP LaserJet Series II, which prints
like 0.003 pages per minute or something. The HP is about to die, I think.
It makes rattling noises and gets jammed on every page. I don't know if
it's worth repairing.

student at the UO, so in a few months, when she really starts cranking out
her dissertation, we'll probably need to start printing a lot more.

seem a rip-off to me for bulk & b/w because you end up buying lots of
expensive ink cartridges over time.

same, whether HP, brother, lexmark, panasonic or whatever? I hear that
interfacing with printers are one of the easier parts of Linux
administration.
