So... at your suggestion of changing window managers I decided to first try a 
cifferent terminal program (xterm) and guess what! it looks like my  issue is 
with eterm! so... Im off to google land to see if there is a parameter or 
something I can add to make copy/paste work!. 
Note: I can copy/paste from eterm to xterm and vice versa, and I can copy 
paste from xterm to xterm, and from eterm to eterm. I can copy from kde apps  
to gnome and back, I can copy from eterm to gnome apps, just not from eterm 
to kde apps (atleast not under enlightenment/gnome). 

Also I should note that this issue is new with slack 9, didnt have a problem 
under slack 8 (or any previous versions)
