Garl, they do get 'dimes' for your using hotmail. Everytime you send email with hotmail you send out MS ads attached to your email. They may also show you ads while on the interface, I don't know. If there are 3rd party ads, they are getting a lot of advertiser views and a lot of dimes. There are many webmail services that provide the same portable nature and that do not support MS. Check out myrealbox.com for instance. They run on novell something or other. I don't see how using MSN Messenger would support them if you are using a unix client, though.
