Ive used netzero/juno free dialup service, and it was pretty bad, so 5x crappy bad service is like 28.8 dialup. Sometimes thier dialup service is like any other dialup service, however its pretty frustrating at times. The pay service may be entirely different though. As far as I know, there is no special hardware, it uses regular modems, which is limited to 33.6k + compression (current technology seems to be limited to 56k). The big drawback to netzero/juno is that its limited to windows (and possibly mac). It *may* be possible to use wine, or VMware and actually get netzero/juno to work, but would it be worth all the time and hassle ??? possibly for the bragging rights... but argh... its going to be work!
