Hi Gang,
Wayne K9DI (EugLUG's Illinois chapter charter member) es Leader Dog
Patriot here. I recently got fed up with drowning in spam and got off
my butt and got procmail working, sort of. Thank God for the step-by-step easy
to read FAQ I found by following www.faqs.org/faqs/mail/fltering-faq/ it
got me up and running, at least with one acct on my system...I'm in the
process of activating procmail on each email addy/login acct. first question,
will activating procmail from each acct interfere with other accts?
Next question: should I go with SpamAssasin, spamc/spamd, or bmf? I
realize that spamc/spamd is a child of SA. I'm running dual boot in my
main machine with debian and Win2K, IPCOP on my router/firewall, and
OpenBSD on my laptop (just installed, haven't done anything with it
yet). About the only reason I keep Win2K around is so I can print stuff
for school. Debian's apt-get has me very, very spoiled....:)
What's really strange, is that as little as six months ago I
wouldn't have been able to get as far with procmail as I have now. Six
months ago is when I decided to spend the majority of my computing time
in the CLI. I started using Epic4 fer irc, Centericq fer my IM needs,
Mutt fer email, es nano fer word processing. I'm actually a lot more
confortable using my comp in the CLI than I ever was in the gui world. I'm
not the geek I'd like to be, yet, but I seem to be getting closer. The
man-speak in man pages still baffles the hell out of me, but they are
somewhat clearer. Whoops, started rambling and babbling.
Anyway, tnx in advance for any suggestions, advice, pointers you
folks throw at me.
