I disagree. I think this is a fabulous move on their part, and even though it makes me feel uncomfortable (in our usual linux zealousness) although I am surprised it is taking them this long to catch on... I mean, we *all* come from communities, which survive by feedback loops in those communities (and beyond). It strikes me that M$ has always gotten its feedback "from beyond" -- either solely from those clients paying the most, or whomever the marketing futzballs think will be important tomorrow.
And so finally, we, the purported community experts (those of us willing to participate, anyway) have been asked. And what will we get in return? (now I'll be less nice!) Quicker turnaround on the next expensive upgrade! Still awaiting their wake-up call that millions of win98 users do not want to be dropped, and oh yeah some security updates. Why care? Unfortunate implications into my life, aside from my own choice of OSes... So, I don't know if I'll find the time to 'participate' in their questionaire, but maybe this post will be assimilated into something useful for the richest man and his monopoly. Those 'futzballs' aren't lacking in cleverness, IMHO just tact. As if I've got any to offer! = ) regards, Ben PS - I wonder if the survey's URL is of the form: http://[EMAIL PROTECTED]/u/r/fscked/now.html (like http://[EMAIL PROTECTED]/security/ex01/vun2.htm ) On Fri, 19 Dec 2003 14:12:10 -0800 Ralph Zeller <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: | Let me guess, we need to be using the latest version of IE, with all the | "safety settings" off, and we need to watch a powerpoint(r) show first in | order to take the survey... | | -- | But I am being nice! | | On 12/19/03 01pm, Bob Miller wrote: | > Michael Surkan at Microsoft would like to find some Linux users to | > take a survey.
