Observing only a few brief outages a year sounds pretty darn good. And the follow-up responsiveness sounds especially impressive, when considering your location is outside of metro area.
What particular variant of DSL service are you connected with? What methods do you recommend in testing/measuring both downstream and upstream bandwidth and latency? I'm not sure if this subject is true to the theme of the list but maybe we all could contribute our experiences with local broadband providers, maybe focusing on residential and small office? Kind of like a local version of dslreports.com. And/or does anyone know of a good online resource that provides a list/overview of all current local broadband providers, residential and/or business? I'll contribute my experiences with both Comcast and Qwest DSL soon. Comcast says they just doubled my downstream bandwidth but preliminary tests indicate an appx 50% increase.
