In the process of attempting to follow QWEST's instructions for upgrading DSL modem firmware I ran into this quandary.
QWEST makes the firmware for the actiontec available in two formats as a windows installer and as a .dmg file containing an install script in perl and the actiontec image + a few other bits of documentation so being the optimistic type I am I figure the .dmg + google and a bit of ingenuity would get me all the pieces I needed to upgrade the device Hah! As it turns out .dmg is where Apple has an IP problem, since they can't or won't release a file spec and the documentation on their website is happy talk or instructions on creating a .dmg using hdiutil Did find a few interesting things about dmg: file recx_1_60_10_0_71_1524su.dmg recx_1_60_10_0_71_1524su.dmg: VAX COFF executable not stripped - version 376 and strings run against the file produces a long list of gibberish and a XML plist describing a HFS partition table. _______________________________________________ EUGLUG mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.euglug.org/mailman/listinfo/euglug
