Your home is wired with a digital PBX unit?

If it is, ordinary phones will not work when
plugged into your phone jacks, unless you use
something like the above-linked analogulator
in-between the phone and the jack. Ditto for
your DSL modem (modulator/demodulator; yes,
modem is the right term).
