What packages/daemons to I need to receive email over the LAN?

I have a RedHat7.2 system that I am trying to reboot as
Debian Sarge 3.1. A lot works. Mail forwarded from
the HPUX system makes it to the system when it is booted
as RedHat7.2 but not when it is Debian.

  cvuxec <------> cvlx21
  HPUX            either RedHat or Debian

Note that I can ssh from cvuxec to cvlx21 in either OS.
I just can't get email in.

I installed postfix. But I still couldn't talk to port 25. It was listed in /etc/services.

I finally found the problem. The /etc/postfix/main.cf file
was wrong. It had a syntax error. Interestingly enough,
it was automatically generated. Once I fixed that, the
system came up. I am running Debain on cvlx21 now.
