You're the first person to suggest so--others have suggested that I stay far away from formac. The same people suggested I stay far away from Macally and they've been found to have been right. > http://www.formac.com/p_bin/?cid=solutions_converters_studiodvtv > > a $299 firewire tvr . They claim to be more robust than EyeTV I bet it's basically identical hardware to the EyeTV model. (Same parts, no idea if same OEM) > http://www.formac.com/p_bin/?cid=solutions_converters_studiodvtv_compare I need to point out that the direct export is misleading. The EyeTV will spit out MPEG, which Final Cut and Premiere both handle. I bet they're talking about using these with "live" TV, which isn't something you'd want to do, really. A guy I know from Elgato (not one of those who warned me that Formac was not known for good support/service) scoffs at the video format specs. too. The Formac device does have video output missing from the EyeTV device, but I don't need that feature. _______________________________________________ EUGLUG mailing list [email protected] http://www.euglug.org/mailman/listinfo/euglug
