I removed the battery and tried a few combinations of the BIOS reset jumper (1, 2, off) with combinations of battery-in, battery-out.

I'll try pulling/reseating the CPU, hadn't thought of that. D'ya think the newer PCI card installed (wireless) might be causing a conflict? It was working fine before...

did you remove the power connector, short/remove the battery, and pull/reseat the CPU?

Also, if you changed any jumper settings on the motherboard, doublecheck those... also, are there any fuses ?
