I used to be an XMMS fan, but the "All interface toolkits suck so
we'll build our own" thing kinda turned me off, I've moved on to
RythmBox

helpful tip for Ubuntu users, to enable mp3 playback for all gnome
applications you need to 'apt-get install  gstreamer0.8-mad' since
it's not included by default due to some tedious IP hostage-taking and
the ShuttleWorth foundations (understandable) reluctance to become
lawyer bait.
