Ever heard of "dll hell"? Dynamic Link Library. Shared files!
Ever worked on Windows?

Yes Joseph, Gentoo it is for me. The same holds true for "rpm
hell" too. I've certainly enjoyed Ubuntu on my laptop. It holds
back packages that aren't ready for primetime without holding
them all the way back to plain ol' Debian. Package managers of
any sort can make it a little awkward when you're wanting to try
something new/non-free/unpackaged/etc.. which is where binary
capability would be great. Opera was the perfect example
mentioned.

BTW, how's the schwag? I've been working too much lately to make
it to meetings.
