Ubuntu seems to be funded by an independently wealthy Self Apointed Benign Dictator for Life (known as "the SABDFL" and pronounced "SAB-duh-full") Those of us that attended the talk couldn't readily identify an obvious revenue source. But maybe they have long term plans they're not disclosing.
