You know, there is a simpler way to do that than creating manual hosts
files for a bunch of random machines..
Install Bonjour for Windows, then set up mdnsresponder or workalike on
Linux. Do nothing for Macs, they just do what they should. Zeroconf
networking is really, really useful. It's just unfortunately not quite
ZERO conf when dealing with Linux. It would be if dists would add a few
lines of code to their daemons to register themselves with the local mDNS
responder.
