I was doing some work in DNS recently and saw that this web based DNS
administrative interface had a priority on their MX records. The help says:
A domain name can have multiple mail routes, each assigned a priority
number. The mail route with the lowest number identifies the primary
mail server. Other mail servers listed will be used as backups and, if
necessary, used in the order defined by their priority values.
Does this mean that if my server goes boinkers and I have a secondary MX
record, my mail would get routed to the 2nd mail server? Is this used
often?
Thanks,
Rob
