All you using AbiWord... what format do you save your files in? I've wanted to use AbiWord, it being a lot lighter than OO.org, but it hasn't worked very well handling my OpenDocument files, which are most of my documents.

Anybody found a solution for that?

I can vouch for Abiword. It's working pretty well for me.

I installed OpenOffice 2.x but with that you need to install the X11 package which is on the OS install disk. It fails silently without it.

as for word processing on OS Ten, "NeoOffice" is a port of OpenOffice that is "better", I think tuned for aqua or something.

Don't forget AbiWord, from http://abisource.com -- they have mac builds.

PS - related to writing, I love wordnet -- see http://wordnet.sourceforge.net PPS - also, I've been using FreeMind, a "mind mapping" tool (think org charts, hierarchical diagrams & notes) http://freemind.sourceforge.net <http://freemind.sourceforge.net> (uses Java, so is multi-platform)
