I've been watching bzr-ng. It actually looks really useful for if you don't have the ability to do a server-client model but want source control (and it's written in Python).

I've also been pondering whether svk would allow for archival of subsets of our repository without having to back up the whole thing. svk is more designed as a distributed version control that can push and pull from a remote repository and still keep track of local commits, and it seems to be designed for close use with subversion.
