Just out of curiousity, has anyone tried to install Ubuntu on a G4 system? I have a Power Tower Pro (mac clone) with a Sonnet G4 450. I was thinking about either trying to install FreeBSD or Yellowdog, but seeing as I'm already using Ubuntu on this box I figured I'd just stick with the same distro on both. Either way, I would like to try and put linux on it. Any suggestions?
I've run ubuntu on G3 and G4 hardware. In the case of Ubuntu it was just like any other install. Insert (PPC) boot disk and press "go". Specifically there was a first-gen iBook (Toilet seat edition), a Wallstreet powerbook, a dual-USB iBook, a slot-load iMac, and a Quicksilver (at least I think it was a QS) G4 tower. I also have a G4 cube at home that I am going to dual-boot with Ubuntu once I get a video card problem ironed out. All of those were done with Breezy, so I imagine it will work at least as well now as it did then. -- -Regards- -Quentin Hartman- _______________________________________________ EUGLUG mailing list [email protected] http://www.euglug.org/mailman/listinfo/euglug
