If you reformat, or have a regular old (non-U3) USB storage device, you might want to check into http://www.truecrypt.org/ if you want an encrypted area that you can use from both linux and windows.... Blogspot ran a nice little review last August: http://linuxhelp.blogspot.com/2006/08/disk-encryption-tools-for-linux-and.html (if linux-only, you may want LUKS, dm-crypt, or CryptoFS, among other choices)
