If M$ 2000 = Windows 2000 Workstation. That product is dead.
Microsoft is only releasing updates for Windows 2000 for paying
support customers.

If you are so inclined as to run that OS. The main point is that
even software and hardware manufacturers will continue to
support the OS as long as Microsoft does. When M$ put the nail
in the coffin for 98/ME others started to follow. With that
information in hand many companies are content to still run XP
if they have even upgraded to it yet.

Now what is needed is for more companies to produce their
commercial software as cross platform encompassing the major
operating systems (linux, OS X.3,4,5, M$ 2000, XP, Vista). There
are far too many instances of "if only" keeping people from
running Linux as their primary or only OS. Reliable numbers are
needed to show its strength on the desktop especially compared
to OS X as many companies are making their software available
for Apple too (Adobe/Macromedia, Intuit). At least Google is
doing what they can on porting some of the apps over that they
have acquired. GoogleEarth and Picasa are a good start. I hope
Nero decides to keep their NeroLinux updated too as I rather
like it and was happy to purchase a license for it.

And while we're at it, I want a full Quicktime implementation on
Linux. I don't care about iTunes as I don't like DRM laden music
but I do like watching the movie trailers on Apple.com.

That be all (for now),
Mr O.
