I'm shopping for some new machines for work, and I just discovered that an Optiplex 740 costs $270 less than the HP 5750 machines we've been getting. Both of these machines are custom configured to be as comparable as possible. The biggest difference is that the Dell uses NVidia Quadro NVS 210S for it's onboard video, and the HP uses an ATI R300. Both only work properly with proprietary drivers, and the NVidia is likely to work substantially better than the ATI. Anyone have any real-world experience with the 740 and Linux? I'm also considering the 745, which is the Intel Core brother to the 740, but I would prefer to reward Dell for finally offering AMD...
