I installed Ubuntu 7.10 on a laptop with a broadcom 43xx wireless
card. When I tried to start the wireless connection I heard a pop and
the laptop stopped working. There was a bunch of white crud on the
hole over the fan after blowing out with compressed air the laptop
works but the wireless is dead under windows and haven't tried under
linux again. Everything else seems to work. Has anybody else had
problems with ubuntu 7.10 on a laptop with a broadcom 43xx wireless?
When I get some money I will take it down to Mr O. at work and see
what can be done.

Did the white crud look like paper?
