I am always interested in this sort of thing, for my blind friend, who uses JAWS, which is Industry Standard stuff for blind people, an Windows Software / Hardware solution.
Brian I chat with a person who uses Dragon Naturally Speaking, quite well. Let me know what you find out, might have some Lab Rats for you.
