New twist against using copper lines for your phone or uplink:
tweakers have been ripping down phone lines to steal the copper, since
copper scrap is now (I think) $3/pound or more, stripped.  So
apparently a lot of folks in my neighborhood are without phone service
and some without internet.  I suppose they *may* replace it with fiber
to the curb, but I assure you this is not some stunt to increase my
neighborhood's bandwidth :)
One of my clients have been broken into numerous times now, by copper
thieves... one time they stole a thick connector bundle that was
probably $15 or $20 of copper, but cost the company almost $10K to
replace!

Well, something else to think about, I suppose....
