Yes yes, I have been doing screencasting to document processes for a few
clients,
and some basic platform installs would make great youtube/g-vid walkthroughs
OS X and Windows installations are super-easy for most open-source apps;
those requiring X-windows or a local MySQL server (if not bundled) are
slightly tricker
but excellent examples for a walkthrough. I've tried WAMPP and XXAMP and
MAMP
or whatever they were, a few bundled Apache/MySQL/PHP/Perl/etc packages
which ease full local webdev on common desktop & laptop systems.

I'm not familiar with LedgerSMB(?) or its requirements, but I'm always
pointing folks
to opensourcewindows.org and opensourcemac.org as good starting places to
tool up :))

ciao4now,

Ben

PS - Turtle, have they stopped using direct current or something??? ;)
