Sort of embedded. Really only version specific, the key was never actually 
embedded. Just had seperate discs for XP Home and Pro, Upgrade, OEM, Retail, 
MCE, Academic, etc... The Vista DVD at least contains Home Basic, Home Premium, 
Business, and Ultimate but there still might be the difference of OEM, Retail, 
Upgrade, Academic, etc but I've not confirmed that. 

So, reduced SKUs is about all. At least in regards to the number of discs 
needed to repair all those darn Windows machines.
