At some point we have to trust someone.

At one point in the 90's almost all the dialup modems were owned by MCI
which got part of it's start in government contracts. Out of that Sprint was
born.

I'd fear the city council's decision to cameraify downtown and wire those
buffers directly to EPD more than Google's fibre plans.

At least Google plans open infrastructure. The Jon & Kitty show plan to pay
forward the police state.
