Hi, in Brussels there's a college who started one as well -> http://www.openbiolab.be/ As far as my experience goes, the remarks you give are pretty accurate, Marc. The university context makes it like you say, despite good intentions of the initiators. We've found the collaboration with them interesting; we have the hacker spirit/creativity/community, they have way more technical possibilities, can rely on institutional and can involve students more easily.
