Hi all,

We are working hard to set this year conference the best as we can. First,
as suggested the Tutorials days were converted into Training days. Secondo,
we are doing some brainstormings to increase the attendance partecipation
and interest during the conference. As we are at the "hot days" of
decisions, we would like to have your opinion to help us deciding.

The last Europython editions the conference days were something like:
tutorials ( usualy saturday and sunday ) - main conference - sprints.
Attendance numbers during tutorials days were about 1/8 compared to the main
conference. Same for sprints. Probably because of those activies being held
during weekends or at the end of a long conference run ( wich can be hard ).

Some of us had the idea to increase the number of tracks of the main
conference for some days during the second part of the conference and
include trainings into those extra tracks. So, the 2 training days wuold be
shifted and included during the main conference days. So 20-24 or 21-24 for
the main conference instead of 19-20 trainings and 21-24 for the main
conference. This should help partecipants because:

- training tutors can promote their training sessions doing short talks or
lightning talks as teasers
- reducing the entire conference duration could potentialy increase
attendance attention, partecipation and conference quality concentrating
everything
- hesitant partecipants that could potentialy be interested in trainings but
didn't have enough information about them to decide can have all they need
during the first 2 conference days
- less expences for conference ( less hotels nights, food, extra money for
rooms, ... ) partecipants could potentialy increase partecipation ( specialy
for students that always are low budget )

We also know that changing the conference plot now that after some
announcements have been made is not really pleasant. But if the change is a
substantial improvement it shouldn't be too late yet.
What do you think about all this? Any other proposal or constructive
comments? We are about to decide about this and your opinion is important
for us.

thanks!
