hydrogen fires are much safer than gasoline - H2 goes poof and it's over, 
whereas gasoline drips, coats, pours, and burns burns burns

also H2 is relatively difficult to combust

(and no, the Hindenburg didn't blow up because of the H2, it went up 
because it's shell was coated in what amounted to rocket-fuel, which was 
ignited, probably, by a static speark fromt he conning towers on the 
ground)

H2 is probably a LOT safer than gasoline... but I'll shut up now, because 
this is way OT
