Hi Joe and All,
I agree in part that this is the reality that is being shoved at consumers.
Although, consider that joe-s-p doesn't seem to even blink when he trades in
his ICE vehicle in two to four years, often losing several times more than the
price of a replacement battery pack. And if he keeps the ICE past about five
years, the maintenance costs increase exponentially through wear items being
replaced. Many of those wear items are not found in a BEV. Perceptions and
paradigms VS. Smoke and mirrors.

I don't think it's THE only path, but it certainly is the only path with a
lesser amount of grass growing on it. At least some progress is being made
with hybrid development. Something sure beats going backwards like.... I can't
think of the names of the two companies now...oh, you know..."big blue" and
"big liars".
This is certainly one case where bigger truly will be better. Very good point,
Joe!!

It's viable right now, but it will certainly become more competitively priced
with ICE's. All we can do is wait and see who perseveres and rides out the
tide long enough for this to gain momentum. I'm betting on Honda. They are the
proven leader in R&D, alternate energy powered vehicles and in motorsports,
IMHO.
BTW, Honda built a solar raycer in 1996 that was leaps ahead of the
competition, not only in performance and technology, but in any given scale of
measure. In the World Solar Challenge, that vehicle was an astounding
competitor, and it seated two people. Not to mention that it is one of the
most attractive, futuristic designs of solar car I have ever seen. Definitely
one of my favorites.

Rick
