If you get a good match of your motor curve to your actual driving conditions you will get better motor efficiency. i.e. running at the nameplate rating (amps and rpm) for that voltage your are using. If your motor is getting hot you are pushing it harder. you could go from 75% eff. down to 50% if your are running it with too big or to small a load!
