I will go ahead and ask what is probably yet another very stupid question, but is it not possible to somehow "mirror" the back EMF pulse(s) so that their resistive effect fades? (much like inverse-wave noise-cancelling) I'm guessing that even if it is possible, the energy budget required to do it would exceed the recovered losses, in any case ...sorry, had to ask...
